Prior to the game, the Lady Rebel basketball team presented a signed pink basketball to Stacy Ward to show their support in her fight against breast cancer. Once the game got started the Lady Rebels continued their great team defense holding a high scoring Wapahani team to just 42 points for the game. Our team defense and rebounding kept us in the game and gave us a chance to win the game in the end. The girls executed the game plan very well, unfortunately we could not get a few more shots to fall on the offensive end. The Lady Rebels trailed by 10 points early in the fourth quarter and fought all the way back to cut it to 1 point. After fouling, Wapahani hit 2 free throws and then Shelby Jeffer’s last second shot was blocked as time expired. Our girls fought really hard tonight for that game and almost had a come from behind win. I cannot fault their effort and we are continually getting better each and every day! Cierra Tomey led the offensive attack with 15 points, Shelby Jeffers and Kalee Hayes both added 11 points and Jewelia Austin chipped in 2 points. The Lady Rebels look to bounce back with a win next Wednesday at Tri High for a 6 pm start!
