Boys Varsity Baseball · Randolph Southern Rebels Varsity Loses Lead Early In Defeat

The Rebels Baseball season ends with loss to Tri in Sectionals.   The Randolph Southern Rebels Varsity watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 6-0 loss to Tri on Friday. Tri took the lead on a single in the second inning.  Randolph Southern Rebels Varsity lost despite out-hitting Tri nine to seven.  Tri fired up the offense in the second inning, when Gage Rowe singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.  One bright spot for Randolph Southern Rebels Varsity was a single by Caleb Wissel in the first inning.  Peyton Wooten was the winning pitcher for Tri.  He allowed nine hits and zero runs over seven innings, striking out eight.  Joseph Hosbrook took the loss for Randolph Southern Rebels Varsity.  He went four and a third innings, allowing two runs on five hits, striking out four and walking one.  Randolph Southern Rebels Varsity totaled nine hits. Wissel and Quorbin McDavid all collected multiple hits for Randolph Southern Rebels Varsity.   Wissel led Randolph Southern Rebels Varsity with three hits in four at bats.

The Rebels finished the season with a winning record of 13-12.  This is the first winning season since 2010 for the Rebels. The Rebels only lose 1 senior and with the Rebels starting 4 and sometimes 5 freshman this season, they look to improve next year and make a great run!
